Sep 23, 2021• Proven solutions

Talking about how to edit MP3 files on Mac, there are basically two ways to do so. The first one is offline and the other one is online MP3 editing. Although both options are available to users, you have to keep in mind that it depends on what type of user you're to select the right way to edit your MP3 files on MacOS.

Part1. Offline Editor - MP3 Editor for Mac

Part2. Online Editor - Edit MP3 on the Website

Online MP3 Editor - This is a more suitable option for those users who are casual MP3 editors and don't need access to a lot of features. Moreover, they just need to edit or cut small-sized MP3 files which won't take a lot of time to upload and download through a browser. Musicians or podcasters who are just starting out can also use the online MP3 editor.

Offline MP3 Editor - The offline version of Filmora X software is more adequate for amateur professionals who may want to split, merge, and edit their MP3 files using advanced tools and features that aren't available in the online version. This allows them to have more control in terms of how they edit their audio delivering a high-quality listening experience to their audience.

Section 1. Offline Editor - MP3 Editor for Mac

If you are looking to merge or combine two or more MP3 files on Mac, you can do so using Filmora X.

Step 1. Importing MP3 Audio Files to MP3 Merger

The first thing you need to do is to click on 'Import' to add all the MP3 files to the MP3 merger. You can also drag and drop the MP3 files for easy import.

Step 2. Combining MP3 Files

Once you have imported all the relevant MP3 files, drag them from your album to the Filmora Timeline located at the bottom. Make sure that you drop them in the order they are supposed to be played in. You can also drag and switch the position of MP3 files if they are not in the right order. Just make sure that you are not putting one MP3 file to another as this would result in a split.

Step 3. Editing Your MP3 Files

If you want to edit your MP3 audio files before exporting, you can use the Edit button to do so which will take you to the editing panel. This will allow you to change the tempo, volume, and other settings of the audio along with including effects such as fade in and out.

Step 4. Exporting Your MP3 Files

After you are done with the editing, you just need to click on the 'Export' button and that will open the Output window. Select the output audio format in the 'Format' section and export your audio file in the way you want.

1.2 How to Split MP3 Files into One on Filmora Mac?

Step 1. Importing MP3 Audio Files to MP3 Splitter

The first step is to click on 'Import' to add the MP3 files to the MP3 splitter. Once the files have been imported, drag them to the Timeline located at the bottom.

Step 2. Splitting MP3 Files

Move the indicator located at the top to the position you want and click the Scissor button to split the clip. You will see that your audio file has been split into two separate MP3 files. If there are any unwanted clips, right-click on them and select 'Delete'. You can also merge the MP3 clips by dragging the MP3 file to the place you want.

Step 3. Exporting Your MP3 Files

After you have split your MP3 files, all you need to do is click on the 'Export' button and that will open another window. Select the output audio format in the 'Format' tab and export your audio file in MP3 or any other desired format.

Section 2. Online Editor - Edit MP3 on the Website

If you want a shortcut route to editing MP3 files, you can use the online editor. You can access the editor directly through your browser. That's why it is a suitable tool for casual MP3 editors or those people who just want to perform the basic editing functions.

However, the online editor doesn't provide the advanced features you may need like adding a video or stickers to make your MP3 more interactive and engaging. Moreover, if you are processing and editing large MP3 files, the online editor will be quite slow and time-consuming as compared to the offline one which will edit and process your audio files locally on the Mac.
