Working Experience and Education
I’ve been fortunate enough to have varied experience in the world of media. I began freelancing as a photographer straight out of school, more than a decade ago, while simultaneously working in graphic design and photo editing. I branched out into videography and video editing in 2016, when I took part in an internship at a photo and video studio. This included plenty of in-studio work as well as on-location work, which both challenged and improved my skills.
My camera has taken a back seat since 2017 as I’ve moved more towards writing. I still freelance occasionally to satisfy my photo-taking and video-capturing cravings, but my love for writing, photography, and video comes together to make a great foundation for writing informative, value-packed articles.
I believe that the key to being a great videographer starts with the shooting and editing is the final piece of the puzzle. Filming things correctly from the start can make your editing job far easier, so I endeavor to provide valuable tips for covering every step of the process in my writing. Shooting your video, downloading stock video or music, editing in various software programs, and tips and tricks for all of the above are just some of the topics that I enjoy sharing information about.
I am proudly South African, and although I’ve spent time living in America, Thailand, and China, I now live back in my home country. I share my life with a supportive partner, a close-knit family, and 5 fluffy pups. I strive to find inspiration for my work in everyday things, views, and exchanges with people, as I believe there is beauty to be found in ordinary things if you only look for it!
