Top 6 Hottest VR headsets 2016
If you want to get your very own VR headset then you will have a lot to think about. After all, you need to think about how much you can pay and you also need to think about the quality of the headset you are getting as well. If you want some ideas, you can easily find some below:
1. HTC Vive
The HTC Vive was made in collaboration with a company called Valve and they also made Half Life. If you were to get the HTC Vive then you would need to plug it into your PC in order for it to work. It comes with 70 different sensors and it can give you a 360 view as well. With a 90Hz refresh rate, it is safe to say that you won’t experience any latency, making this a great buy for everyone who wants a great VR.
2. Oculus Rift
The Oculus Rift is ideal for any gamer and it has been funded by Kickstarter. Facebook then purchased it for $2 billion and it works by using the DVI in the computer and the USB ports as well. It tracks your head movement to give you a full image and it works at 233 million pixels every second! This retails for around $600.
3. Sony PlayStation VR
This VR is coming out before Christmas and it really does give you the chance to go big. The tech in this doesn’t compare to that of the other VRs that are out at the moment even though it is somewhat cheaper at $400.
4. Samsung Gear VR
This is otherwise known as the Oculus Rift Lite and Samsung collaborated with the company above in order to build this product. The gear VR is a case that basically uses a Galaxy Smartphone processor as the power and the display. You slot your phone in front of your lens and then you will be in your own VR world. This actually sells for as little as $100 and the image is grainy so keep that in mind when you are making your purchase.
5. Google Cardboard
The Google Cardboard isn’t going to be outdone by anyone and it was launched at a conference. All you need to do in order to get started is put a phone into the cardboard box before you strap it to your head. The best thing is that the smartphone will contain all of the gyroscopic sensors you need to accurately track your head and the movements you have so it does the same thing as the above. You can buy this for as little as $17 and it is a great way for you to get an effective and very low cost solution that won’t let you down. This is also great for those who don’t know if a VR is right for them or not, due to the low price.
6. Microsoft HoloLens
Microsoft aren’t ones to copy from other competitors and that is why they have created the Hololens. This essentially combines reality with virtual settings to become one of the biggest and most ambitious projects to have ever been created. In other words, if you played Minecraft then you could look at this on your kitchen table or you could even walk around Mars while you are in the comfort of your own living room. This works by using Kinect gestures to recognise your own voice commands and you can turn your head 120 degrees to get a full field of vision. It is available in HD graphics but you should note that you will get a letterbox view so if you want a full view then you really are better off going with either Vive or even Oculus. At the moment, you can pick up this for $3,000 so it isn’t cheap and if you want something that will really blow you away then you would be better off going with one of the above options.
So as you can see, there are plenty of VR options for you to choose from and it has never been easier for you to pick one up for yourself either.
