The narration is an effective storytelling tool that is frequently used in documentary films or in online video tutorials to present the important facts to the audience. Nonprofessional video makers use this technique as often as professionals, which means that recording the voiceover isn't an option reserved for high-end film industry professionals.
Owners of the latest version of Premiere Elements can easily record their own voice and use it in their videos and in this article, we will show you how to effortlessly add a voiceover you recorded to your video.
How to Record and Add a Voiceover in Premiere Elements
Premiere Elements can be used to record a voiceover in several different modes. We will cover only the Expert mode since the process is nearly identical in all other modes.
1. Hardware Setup
The quality of your voiceover recording will depend on the equipment you use, therefore using the best microphone you can lay your hands on is a sure way to produce a great narration for your video. After plugging the microphone into your computer, perform the microphone check, by testing it through 'Windows Hardware Test Wizard.
Start the Adobe Premiere Elements and from the 'Edit' menu select 'Preferences' and then click on the 'Audio Hardware' feature. Once the window appears on your screen make sure to choose the 'Input' option since you will be recording sound and then proceed to select the microphone you intend to use during the voiceover recording session. Click on the 'OK' button to apply the settings and locate the 'Tool' icon at the lower end of the editor's window.
2.Recording the voiceover
Before you click on the 'Tool' icon you first need to place the video you'd like to narrate to the video track of the editor's timeline and then place the playhead at the position on the timeline where you would like the narration to begin. Once you've designated the starting position of your voiceover, click on the 'Tool' icon and select the 'Narration' option from the panel that emerges on the screen.
The 'Narration' window will appear on the screen, and before you start recording it is advisable to adjust the 'Mic Sensitivity' slider to ensure that your voice isn't too loud or too low, and then hit the 'Record' button. The video will start playing and you'll be able to record your words. The recording stops automatically 30 seconds after the video clip ends.
3.Adding and Removing a Voiceover Recording
The voiceover file will appear in the 'Narration' track directly below the video clip after you stop recording. If you don't like the voiceover you just created simply drag the playhead back to the starting position of the voiceover file and start recording again. This action will replace the old file with a new voiceover recording. To remove the narration you just created from your project entirely, select the file and hit the delete button on your keyboard.
Easier Way to Add Voiceover with Premiere Elements Alternative
Creating voiceover with Premiere Elements is not very complicated, but users who are looking for an easier way of making a voiceover should try using Filmora. In Wondershare's video editing software, you just need to place the video clip to which you wish to add narration onto the timeline and select the 'Record a voiceover' option from the 'Record' menu. Click on the 'Microphone' icon to start recording and repeat this action to stop recording.
Once you've created the voiceover file, adjust its position on the timeline or you can choose to apply audio effects from the Fimora's sound effect library. The software offers a vast number of different effects that can be used to increase the quality of the voiceover file you recorded.
