Requirements: We are going to create the awesome freeze frame clone effect inside Wondershare Filmora. Use a tripod to shoot your clip and use high frame rate to decrease the motion blur. 60/120FPS is recommended.
First, import your clip to the timeline. You can zoom in and zoom out of the timeline by clicking and dragging. Also, you can use the plus and minus buttons. Now, cut the first few seconds from the clip by click and drag.
Find the frame where you want to make the freeze. Under the Program window, click on Camera button. This will take a snapshot of the current frame. Drag and drop the snapshot to the timeline.
Cut to the right part from your time indicator. You need to remove the background from the snapshot layer. Move over to the Effects tab. Click on AI Portrait and then select Human Segmentation effect.
Apply it to the snapshot layer and it automatically removes the background from the snapshot layer. Now we need to adjust the side edge a little bit. Double-click on the snapshot layer and click on Effect tab.
Under the Human Segmentation, increase the edge thickness a little bit until it looks perfect for you. Click on Ok button. Check out the preview. Again do the same thing. Find another frame to make a freeze.
Click on the Camera icon to take snapshot. Drag and drop the snapshot to the timeline and increase the duration of the snapshot with the time indicator. Find the point where it freezes and remove the background.
Move over to the Effects tab and apply the Human Segmentation effect on the snapshot layer. Then double-click on the snapshot layer and click on Effects and adjust the edge thickness. Now, see the final preview.
Guide to Create Freeze Frame Clone Effect Video
Download and install Wondershare Filmora on your computer. Launch Filmora and click on New Project on the welcome screen. Alternatively, go to File menu and select New Project option.
Import your video clip to Project Media folder. Go to File> Import Media and click on Import Media Files option. Select the video clip from your hard drive. Otherwise, you can drag and drop the video clip directly into the Project Media folder. Finally, drop the video clip from Project Media folder onto the timeline.
Place the marker where you want the frame to freeze. Click on Camera icon under Program window. This will take a snapshot of the current frame and place it under Project Media folder. Drag and drop the snapshot onto the timeline.
Match the duration of the snapshot with the point where you want the frame to freeze. Go to Effects> AI Portrait> Human Segmentation and drop the effect on the snapshot layer to make the background disappear.
Double-click on the snapshot layer. Go to Effect and adjust the Edge thickness so that it looks perfect. Click on OK button and play the video to check out the effect.
Perform Step 3 to Step 5 again where you need to select a frame to freeze, take snapshot, drop onto timeline and remove background. Finally, play the video to check out the freeze frame clone effect. Save the video on your hard drive by click on Export button.
