One popular type of YouTube video is app tutorials. To make a great tutorial for an app or mobile game you will need to be able to record the screen of your device. That way people can watch you work or play. Pointing a camera at your device’s screen will produce a tacky, poor quality, video. Luckily, there are a lot of great programs that can record the screen of your Android device directly.
There are a lot of Android apps that are specifically for recording your screen and others which have screen recording as one of their features. Here are a few examples of good ones.
MirrorGo is a mirroring app from Wondershare. Connect your Android to your PC, either wirelessly or using a USB port, and then use MirrorGo to make your phone’s screen pop up on your computer screen. From there you can record your screen using Filmora Video Editor. Download the latest version of Filmora at Filmora.wondershare.com. For more information on screen recording read the entry ‘How To Record Your Computer Screen’.
2.AZ Screen Recorder
AZ Screen Recorder is a screen recording app that was created to work on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is free with in-app purchases and allows you to record from your device’s camera at the same time as you record its screen. This is a convenient way to record your own reactions to what you are recording on your screen. Reaction shots are popular for gaming tutorials. Even if you are not recording a game it might be useful to have a video of yourself explaining things. You can add your reaction video into your main video using ‘picture in picture’, which is available in Filmora Video Editor.
Telecine is another free app for Android 5.0 or later. Feature-wise it is fairly basic, but it is extremely easy to use and produces high quality videos. Unfortunately, it does not record sound. If you are happy with recording a separate voice over or using text to explain your video then that might not be an issue for you. Telecine is a simple, no hassle, option for screen recording.
4.Unlimited Screen Recorder
Unlimited Screen Recorder is another free app for Android 5.0 Lollipop. The most noteworthy feature of this screen recording app is that it will let you record for an unlimited period of time. You can also use Unlimited Screen Recorder to record audio, which will be useful for recording your video’s voiceover. You can use text or YouTube annotations to explain what is happening in your video, but it is easier to engage an audience if you use a voiceover either instead of or in addition to your text.
Mobizen is one of the only screen recording apps available for Android devices older than 5.0 Lollipop, such as Kitkat or Gingerbread. Unfortunately, the videos recording using Mobizen are fairly low quality. The app is free, though, and it does not require you to ‘root’ your phone. So, it is still a decent option if you are using an older Android model.
If you are able to use either Filmora or another desktop program to record your Android screen – either by connecting your device to your computer with a USB or using a mirroring app – then that will get you better results than Mobizen.
