You know that feeling when you really want to watch YouTube, but your eyeballs are busy with something else? There’s a solution! Podcasts are pretty much the YouTube you consume with your ears.
Here are 5 free podcasts hosted by personalities we love from YouTube! Please note that not every episode of every one of these podcasts is appropriate for all ages. Use your discretion.
1. Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig
Hosted by YouTube comedian Grace Helbig, Not Too Deep features a variety of guests from YouTube. This hilarious podcast is ‘more about the laffs than the feels’ and tackles every subject you would never imagine would even be a subject, i.e ‘What do you think Victoria’s secret is?’ or ‘Who should we throw spaghetti at?’. If you have a quirky sense of humor, this is the podcast for you.
I should note: Not Too Deep changed its format earlier this year and the reviews have been mixed. In general, a lot of listeners feel like it’s lost its unfiltered charm. I’d recommend starting with season 1, and hoping the format is switched back by the time you catch up.
Not Too Deep is free to listen to and you can find it here.
2. Dear Hank & John with The Vlogbrothers
Hank and John Green – The Vlogbrothers – host an “advice” podcast. “Advice” is in quotes because they describe this advice as ‘dubious’. Really, this is a funny show where John and Hank answer questions people have sent them and talk random stuff. Episode titles include ‘Tree Climbing Strategies’ and ‘In the Absence of Toes’.
Other YouTubers appear in the podcast as guests, but not in every episode. You can listen to Dear Hank & John here.
This year, Hank and John began making a kind of spinoff podcast for people who support Dear Hank & John on Patreon. It’s called This Week in Ryans and it’s about people and stuff named Ryan.
3. Psychobabble with Tyler Oakley and Korey Kuhl
Tyler Oakley’s Psychobabble is another funny podcast that’s pretty much just two best friends being goofy. This one also has a lot of pop culture discussion and “unfiltered gossip sessions”. Recurring topics include ‘Queens’, i.e Katy Perry or Lady Gaga, and life advice. One potentially negative side effect of Psychobabble is wishing you could be friends with Tyler and Korey.
This is a free weekly podcast that you can listen to here.
4. Shane & Friends with Shane Dawson
This weekly, hour-long, podcast can get pretty outrageous. Shane Dawson and his guests are game to talk about anything! And there are a lot of guests. This is primarily an interview podcast and there are personalities from both YouTube and other media on every week.
Shane also does impressions and quirky characters. You can listen to Shane & Friendshere.
5. Ladies Who Lunch with Ingrid Nilsen and Catrific
Join Ingrid and Cat as they talk about social awkwardness, dating, sex, and other topics that can be tough to talk about with ease. Ingrid does fashion/beauty videos on her channel, while cat does mostly vlogging, but in this podcast, they’re just besties doing some quality girl-talk.
This is a fun podcast, but topics can get serious too. Trying Out Therapy, Overcome Your Eating Disorder, and Being Honest with Yourself are among the episode titles. You can listen to Ladies Who Lunch here.
