In this video, we'll show you how to create a roughen edges effect in Wondershare Filmora. First, drop a "Default Title" on track 1. Then enter your word and change font to any bold font. Increase the font size to 150. Take a "Snapshot" and replace the "Default Title" on the timeline with the snapshot.

00:34

Now, go to the “Effect,” find the "BCC Turbulence" effect in the "Boris Effect," and apply it to the snapshot. Then go to the "Effects" settings, then go to "PixelChoose/Mocha" and "Launch Mocha Mask and Track." In this pop-up panel, zoom in on your text using the mouse wheel. Then, select the "Brush" tool to create dots like this around the edges of your text.

00:55

Once you're done with the dots, click on the "Quick Mask" option, and you will see lots of Blue points reflecting masked places. Then click on track "Forward," and it will automatically create the mask in the same place throughout your clip. After that, click on "Save" and close this window.

01:10

In the "Effects" setting, we change "Scale" to 20, "Intensity" to 240, and "Reference" level to -50. You can see we're getting roughen edges around our word. Then, expand "Distortion" and change the "Master" value to -60. Expand "Texture Geometrics" and change the "Aspect" value to 160. You can change out "Wrap Mode" to get different edges. Switch off the "Use Improved Noise" option; under "Noise Type," choose "Smooth," then go to "Interpolation" and select "Quadric."

01:40

Now, stop at the 20th frame and turn on the "Master" keyframe under "Distortion." Then place the playhead at 4 seconds and ten frames and change the "Master" value to 0. Let's see the final preview.

Keep in mind that this effect is pretty heavy, and rendering will take lots of time.
