Here are six quick tips to ensure lower third is effective and conveys the right message.
Tip number one: Use readable font. Part of communicating information without distraction is to make sure the font used in the lower third is readable.
Tip number two: Don't make it too long. There is a limited amount of space to use, if you need to communicate more information, consider using a title slide instead which will give you more space to communicate your ideas.
Tip number three: Use branding. A lower third is another way to have people remember and recognize your brand. If you have your own branding colours and logo, use it in your lower third.
Tip number four: Use templates. Pick one style and stick with it. Consistency in video editing helps communicate.
Tip number five: Keep it simple. Remember the purpose of your lower third. To convey information without being distracted, don't use a lot of text.
Tip number six: Emphasize with your lower third. Use a lower third to emphasize a certain point or to use different wording than you used in my video, if you think it makes the point clearer.
Here's how to add a lower third to your video. Wondershare Filmora video editor comes equipped with pre-built video based lower thirds and a ton of unique styles and colours.
How to Add a Lower Third to Your Video
What you need to prepare:
- A computer (Windows or macOS)
- Your video materials.
- Filmora video editor
Download and Install the Filmora video editor. After it’s done installing, let the app run automatically and click on “New Project”.
Go to My Media and click on “Import Media” to load your photos or images into the video editor.
Drag the media you want to use to the Timeline.
Head over to Titles → Lower Thirds. Then, drag the one you like to use to the Timeline and place it above the clip you imported earlier.
Double-click on the Lower Third Title clip. Then, edit the text inside the new panel that pops up. Here, you can change its size, color, font, and a few other features. When you’re done, click OK.
All that’s left to do now is to watch the final preview and Export the video. Render the video first and then hit the blue Export button. Congratulations on adding a lower-third animated title to your video in Filmora.
