3. Add transitions between video and photo files

All clips will be played one by one without a gap. But no transition effects will be applied by default. To add transitions, switch to Transition tab and drag any transition to the joint of two clips from almost 200 transitions (when the white box appears, release your mouse). Now, you could also add transition at the end or start of a clip.

You can also change the transition mode among Overlap, Prefix, and Postfix by double-clicking on the transition on timeline

I'm using the trial and I like the program except for one thing. When I use a transition between clips, the audio doesn't crossfade along with the video. It sounds the same as when there was no transition, going abruptly from one clip to the other very different sounding clip. I know you can fade the audio in and out of one clip at a time, but I want them all to do this at every transition. Do I have to manually fade the audio for every clip in the timeline to get the crossfade effect? I have over 100 clips in this project.
Is there any way to upscale real fps in video (from 30 to 60 for example)? Like SVP-plugin for video-players but more accurate?..
Why can transition be only 2 seconds? It's a poor program.
newer mind.... duoble click the transition and check "use repeat frames" instead of use trimmed frames... pretty simple yet... well it is what it is :)
i have this problem that i dont see anyone address.... when you add transition between 2 clips somehow magically the transition brings back like 0.5 sec of deleted scene... for example without transition there is only black screen in the middle, with a transition when one clips ends another one begins with footage that does not exist.... does not exist as in its deleted, yet it shows with transition, even if i start trimming the video the video keeps getting shorter YET in the transition i still see the 0.5sec of footage that does not exist with the clip.. i hope im making sense...
can we add custom transition ? like if we want add transition with the logo of our company ?
Hi, I'm using iMovie 10.1.4 on Mac OS X El Capitan to edit a guitar lesson video. After clipping the video (deleting unwanted sections in the middle of the video), I added Cross Dissolve transitions in between the new clips, setting the transition time at 2 seconds. With such settings the video is now showing parts of the deleted clips during the transitions! Is there a way to completely delete the "deleted clips" from the clipboard let's say and have the transition effect use the remainder clips to merge the clips together?
I have been playing with the transitions and using the transitions provided and also using elements or overlays and they are not smooth and kind of jerky. Any way to fix this?
Once I have reduced the transition duration I can't reset it. Bug?
Why do transitions cut the video clip ending and beginning of the next one instead of blending them together? I don't like my videos being chopped when using transitions. Every other software places the transition 'between' the video clips.
