Is Filmora a one-time purchase or a subscription?
Filmora offers both subscription and perpetual purchase options. A subscription is billed monthly or yearly and generally includes current updates during the active term, while a perpetual plan is a one-time purchase for a specific major version and does not automatically include future major versions.
What is the difference between Filmora subscription and perpetual plans?
A subscription is the better fit when you want ongoing access to current updates, while a perpetual license is designed for users who prefer a one-time payment and are comfortable staying with the purchased major version.
Both plan types can support watermark-free exports when the export is covered by the eligible license. The practical difference is how you pay and how future version upgrades are handled, not whether the editor has a basic timeline.
Which Filmora plan is better for regular video work?
Choose a subscription if you publish often, need the newest features, or want updates to arrive as part of the active plan. This is usually simpler for creators whose projects depend on the latest AI tools, format support, or workflow improvements.
Choose a perpetual plan if you have a stable workflow, want to avoid recurring billing, and do not need every future major release. Before buying, check which version the license covers and whether the plan includes the assets or AI credits you need.
| Plan type | Payment | Future major versions | Best fit |
| Monthly or annual subscription | Recurring billing during the selected term | Generally included while the subscription is active | Creators who want ongoing updates |
| Perpetual plan | One-time payment | Usually limited to the purchased major version | Stable workflows and occasional editors |
| Business or team plan | Per-user or custom business pricing | Depends on the business agreement | Client work, multiple users, and license management |
