Friends, today, in this video, I will tell you how you can play a video on your text background similar to this. If you want to play a video on your name or any text background, how can you do it? We'll use Wondershare Filmora.
After downloading, installing, and finally opening, this type of interface appears in front of you. From here, click on the “Create New Project” button. After this, you've to import the video, which you want to add into the background of the text.
I will import the video from here and add it to the timeline. So I will keep the amount of video that I need; the rest I will delete from here.
After this, click on the “Titles” button, and from here, click on the “Plain Text” button. From here, you've to add the text to the video. After this, right-click on it, and from here, click the “Edit Properties” button.
And from here, click on the "Advanced" button and click on the "Add Shape" button from here, and thus you can add shape here. So here, you can enter your text. I am entering here. Then you can adjust it to your video. From here, you can change its font, and after this, the text size could also be increased or decreased. And now it will keep its color black.
After this, you can also add animations to it. After this, click on the "OK" button. Now again, you've to go into its properties; after that, click on the "Video" button, and then click on the “Compositing” arrow. And from the “Blending Mode” here, you’ve to turn from “Normal” to “Darken." Click “OK” on it. Now let’s play the video and see it.
How to Place a Video Inside Text in Filmora | Tutorial
What you need to prepare:
- A computer (Windows or macOS)
- Your video materials.

Import Video Needed in Text
Click on the "Media" option from the top-left side of the screen, and press the "Import Media" button to import your video that is needed to be added to the text. Once your video is in the media section, drag and drop it to the project timeline below.
Trim Video by Deleting
If you think your video has unnecessary or unwanted parts which need to be removed, you can delete them easily. For this purpose, you’ve to use your playhead by moving it into that unrequired part of the video in the timeline. After this, you need to click its “Scissor” icon, which is indicated as trim, and ultimately that specific part of the video would be deleted.
Integrate Text Title for Video
Now press the "Titles" tab from the top of your screen. From the categories on the left, select the "Plain Text" category and choose the "Basic 6" text template. You can also choose any other text template as required. After this, drag the title to the project timeline below and adjust its duration as per your project requirements.
Modify the Text Title's Layout
Right-click on your title track from the timeline, and from the given options, select "Edit Properties." A window will open that allows you to modify and edit the text. Now, click the "Advanced" button, select "Customize," and press the "Add Shape" button from the top of the window. From the options, you can choose any shape; for instance, you can select a rectangle.
Now write anything you want in the provided box on the screen. You can also change font size, style, color, layout, etc. Finally, adjust the box size according to your screen, and make sure to bring the text in the center. If you want to add animations to the title text, navigate to the "Animation" menu from the top, select your desired animation template from the given options, and click "OK."
Adjust the Blending Mode for Video
Now again, right on your title track from the timeline. From the opened window, select "Video," then select the "Compositing" option, and change "Blending Mode" to "Darken" from "Normal." Click "OK" if you are done with the changes.
Play the Video and Save it on the Device
To preview your final video, click the "Play" icon under the screen. If you want to enjoy smooth playback of your video with high-resolution graphics, click the “Render Preview” icon.
If you’re satisfied with the video and your effort, proceed further by saving the project to your device. For this, click on the "Export" button from the top, select the file name for your video, choose the file location to save on your device, and click "OK." Now again, press the "Export" button to save your video.
