Methods to Import Media Files into Filmora

Filmora provides 3 different ways to import media files for your editing projects. Go through the steps below to learn each available media import method:

Step 1. Import Media Through the File Menu

Open File and select Import Media to view the available import options. Choose Import Media Files, Import a Media Folder, Import from a Camera or a Phone, or Import with Auto Beat Sync based on your source.

Step 2. Import Media from Project Media

Click Import beside Project Media to select and add media files to Filmora.

Step 3. Drag and Drop Media Files

Drag and drop your files directly into the Media Library. For high-resolution videos, Filmora may suggest creating a proxy file to improve editing performance. The proxy uses a lower resolution during editing without affecting the quality of the final exported video.

How To Make Image Sequence Into a Video

Filmora can turn a series of images into a continuous video sequence during editing.

Step 1. Import the Image Sequence

Click Import or drag and drop your JPEG/JPG images into the Media Library. Select the first image, enable Image Sequence, and click Open. Make sure the images are properly numbered in sequence before importing.

Step 2. Add the Image Sequence to Timeline

Drag the imported image sequence onto the Timeline. Right-click any image to adjust its duration if required.

How to Select Multiple Files at Once

Filmora lets you select several media files together before importing or managing them, so follow the instructions below:

Hold CTRL while clicking to select multiple files located anywhere in the list. To select consecutive files, click the first file, hold Shift, and click the last file to include everything between them.

Use Scan to Import

This video editor now offers a "Scan to Import" feature for transferring media directly into Filmora with no button imports:

Step 1. Access Scan to Import Feature

First, access Project Media in the top left corner and expand the Import section to choose Scan to Import. Next, scan the QR code via your mobile phone.

Step 2. Import Media From Mobile

After scanning the QR code, tap + on your mobile phone and add the video clips. The added clips will show in your Media Library.

How to Import XML Files in Filmora
