Animation for Mac

Adding animating effects to video will bring more fun. In Filmora video editor, there are many preset animation effects. This guide shows you how to apply animation to make your videos more unique and customized.

When you need animation effects to deal with the connection of clips, the insertion of text, or to make your videos attractive, you can apply animation or motion templates.

Apply Animation Templates to Videos on Mac

You can refer to the following procedure to apply preset animations or preset motions to your video.

Step 1: Import your video clip

Launch Filmora on your computer. Then, import the clip as prompted or drag the video from your files directly to the timeline.

Step 2: Launch Animation

Click the clip in the timeline. Drag the progress bar of the video to where you would like to apply the animation feature. In the property panel on the left side of the interface, click Video > Animation. Then, you can choose Preset Animation or Preset Motions in the Drop Down List below.

  • Preset Animation: There are nine animation templates built into the system, including Fade in, Fade out, Pause, Slide Right, Slide Up, Vortex In, Vortex Out, Zoom In, and Zoom Out.
  • Preset Motions: Filmora provides you with more than 70 motion templates. You can preview and find whatever you like.

Note: Put the pointer on the animation you would like to preview and stay for a while. The effect will be displayed in the little windows where it is located.

Step 3: Apply the effect

Drag or double-click the template to apply. Alternatively, you can right-click the effect and choose between Apply and Apply to All.

Tip:
After double-clicking the effect, the player on the right side will show you a short display of the effect. You can check whether you like it or decide if you want to change to another one if you want to preview others.

Remove Preset Animation or Preset Motions

Here are the methods to remove preset animation and preset motions:

  • Preset Animation

If you want to reset the Preset Animation, you need to click the clip in the timeline again to launch the animation settings. In the property panel, click Video > Animation > Preset Animation. Then, click Reset at the bottom of the section to remove the effect.

  • Preset Motions

If you want to remove Preset Motions changes, you also need to return to the property panel first. Then, click Video > Animation > Preset Motions. Click Reset at the bottom of the section to clear changes. Alternatively, you can double-click the first option, No Animation, to revert to the original video.

Note:
Besides videos, Filmora also allows you to apply animation features to the text added. You can double-click the text inserted into the video and change the effect in the property panel by following the steps above.
