Create a Track Matte Effect in Filmora on Mac

Set up the clips in the correct order first, then use the Track Matte controls in Filmora to create and refine the effect:

Step 1. Arrange the Clips on Different Tracks

Import the media you want to use and place the clips on separate tracks in the Timeline. Put the matte source on the upper track and keep the clip you want to effect on the track below.

Step 2. Choose the Track Matte Source

Select the lower clip and open Video > Basic > Track Matte. Turn on Track Matte, then choose the required upper track from Select Track.

Step 3. Choose Matte and Export

Access the Composite Using option and choose the right option according to your requirements. Select Alpha Matte for revealing the selected clip according to the set transparency. On the other hand, choose Luma Matte to control the visibility according to the video brightness. If needed, change the composite mode or enable Reverse to adjust the result. Once the effect looks right, click Export to save the finished video.
